Upper Juniors
Claremont Fan Court School prepares children to become independent, creative and thinking life-long learners. This teaching, begun in the Lower Juniors, continues in the Upper Juniors.
Teaching and learning in the classroom is a combination of essential traditional methods and applications, together with exciting programmes, resources and opportunities available only through technology. We provide a clearly defined framework which gives necessary structure and support to the children's learning. The technology then allows greater independence and extension of opportunity leading to the development of the skills needed for the 21st Century.
As a transition year the Year 3 classrooms have interactive whiteboards and the children use laptops in the classroom. In Year 4 parents buy a laptop from the school's designated supplier which they continue to use through Year 5 and Year 6. Collaboration is natural in a laptop classroom leading to effective learning from each other. We encourage children to set criteria and evaluate their own and others' work. This kind of critical thinking and sharing of opinions is an essential tool for life.
