Diary and Events

Autumn term 09

Organisers from the Oasis Charity in Cobham will attend our Harvest Thanksgiving together with the Reception parents and PTA Representatives. They will receive our gifts of food to be shared with people in need in the area.

Year 2 made pizzas as part of their Science topic on Healthy eating.

Reception went on their outing to Garsons Farm to pick pumpkins and then made pumpkin soup on their return.

Year 1 had a Pet Week, and the children were encouraged to bring in their pets and talk about how they take care of them.

During their topic in 'Princes, Princesses and castles,' the Nursery children went exploring in the school grounds to find a castle!

We were very lucky to have a Countryside Liason Officer come to visit us from Elmbridge Council. She took each class on a nature walk around the school grounds.

As part of their topic on 'Houses and Homes,' Year 1 visited Windsor Castle. It was an excellent trip and the children learnt so much from the talks and activities.

Each year group will prepare a play at Christmas which they will perfom to their parents, grandparents and other visitors.

Year 2 and their production of ' Everyone comes to Bethlehem.'

At the end of term we all joined together for a Christmas Party and we had a surprise visitor!

Spring term 10
Year 1visited Brooklands Museum as part of their topic on Transport.

Year 1 had a Bike Day as part of their topic, where the children all brought in their own bikes. We wilooked at the different parts of a bike and had fun riding them around a course.

The Lower Junior School had thier Enrichment Week all based around Science. We had many parents come in and talk to the children about their areas of expertese and a special visit by Mr Ron Bibby! The week was a great success with so many practical activities for the children to be involved in.

The term ended with a visit by the Easter Bunny and an Easter Egg Hunt run by the PTA.

Summer Term 10

Year 1 visited the Natural History Museum as part of their topic on 'Dinosaurs.'

Reception went to visit Claremont Landscape Gardens as part of their topic on 'The Environment.'

In Book Week we had a visit from the illustrator, Korky Paul and many fun and exciting activities during the week for the children. The week finished with all the children and staff dressing up as their favourite book character.

 

Year 2 visited Claygate to investigate another environment as part of their Geography topic on 'Maps and Places.' The children looked at the street furniture, interviewed some shop keepers and took some rubbings.

We look forward to Sports Day, and know it will be another great success!

Summer music concert

All the children that learn a musical instrument will have the opportuntiy to perform for the rest of the Lower Junior school and their parents.
