Key Information

Key information and opportunities for finding out about Claremont Sixth Form

·         The Sixth Form Open Evening at 6.00pm on Monday 3rd October 2011 will provide an important opportunity for all year 10 and 11 students, and you as parents to discuss A Level options with the staff who deliver their subjects.  Parents will be invited to visit the Sixth Form Centre to see for themselves the study and recreational facilities available.

·         The A Level Courses booklet can be downloaded at any time below. This will be given out to every family at the Open Evening.

·         Option forms - At the end of the Sixth Form Open Evening all students, internal and external, will be asked to hand in their provisional option choices. If anyone is unable to attend the Open evening, the options form must be handed in by Friday 18 November. These option choices will form the basis of the option groupings around which the timetable will be drafted for the coming year.

·         Sixth Form External Entrance Interviews – If these interviews have not already taken place earlier, they will be held across the same period of time and offers of places are made within a few days of each interview.

·         Early acceptance of Sixth Form place discount scheme - The school operates a generous fees discount scheme for those families who pay their deposit required to secure a Sixth Form place for their son or daughter and commit in writing to this by Friday 3rd February 2012.

·         Offers of places, subject to satisfactory GCSE grades, together with confirmation of A Level courses chosen and confirmation that these courses will run, are sent out to all families in May 2011.

·         Our Sixth Form Induction Day will be held in the week before Summer Meeting for all new Sixth Form students, both external and internal. This is a very useful and productive day which will prepare students in more detail for life in the Sixth Form, allow them to meet new students and the Upper Sixth and confirm the courses they are taking.

·         A GCSE exam review day will be held on the Friday after GCSE results in August 2012. If you wish to have your son or daughter’s A Level options reconsidered, or if there is some doubt about whether the criteria necessary to study at A Level have been met, please meet with the Deputy Head on this day.

At any stage, if you require further information, please get in touch with Mr Paul Jeffrey, Head of Sixth Form.
