Y10 Geography Trip to Osmington Bay

28 March 2017

A group of 44 Year 10 pupils and staff travelled to PGL Osmington Bay, Dorset as part of the GCSE Geography fieldwork component to their course from 24-28 March.

On the first day the group travelled from the source to the mouth of the River Wey. Pupils had to collect their own river data for the fieldwork by taking measurements at different sites. This involved getting into the river and working as a team to get accurate primary data which they all did really well.

On subsequent days the pupils visited Weymouth and looked at the impact of hosting the Olympic sailing events on urban regeneration. They also visited Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door to look at coastal processes.

The group also took advantage of the facilities offered by the PGL centre and had a go on the climbing wall, giant swing, abseiling and matrix.

Overall it was a fantastic 5 days with amazing weather - staff and pupils will take some great memories from this trip!
