    An external examiner as well as a very supportive audience was present for the drama AS practical exam in the JGC on the evening of 3 April. The group of five students presented monologues and duologues from Jim Cartwright’s play, Two, followed by a much-edited, ‘potted’ version of the classic Oscar Wilde comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest.

    Throughout March a group of Year 9 pupils have been participating in the Young Enterprise Tenner Challenge. Pupils borrowed £10 at the beginning of the month and were tasked with turning the initial loan into as much profit as possible using their entrepreneurial talents.

  • 'Dramatic' Revision Session for English GCSE Pupils
    4th April 2014

    Year 11 participated in a physical dramatic workshop for JB Priestley’s An Inspector Calls to help them revise for their English literature exam. Pupils worked well in groups to create tableaux and soundscapes to help them visualise the key themes and characters. This was a helpful revision tool that gave pupils the opportunity to revise key points of the play using drama techniques.

  • Dracula Brought to Life for Sixth Formers

    On 31 March, Lower Sixth A level Literature students went to Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre to watch a stage production of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Adapted by John Ginman and directed by Eliot Giuralarocca, the students were treated to a blend of Victorian gothic with a contemporary twist.

    £11,000 Raised at the Elegant 'Platinum Ball'

    What a fantastic evening it was! This year the ball was held at The Oatlands Park Hotel in Weybridge on 29 March. The event was a sell-out with over 200 people attending from across the whole School. The support parents gave was brilliant; the auction, which was compered by Barry Richards, raised over £11,000 for the PTA. There was dancing into the early hours to a five-piece band, Platinum Gold.

    On Thursday 27 March a small group of Year 11 pupils took part in a rat dissection workshop. Although it is not strictly on the curriculum, the biology department wanted to offer pupils the opportunity to learn about the anatomy and physiology of the furry mammal.

    On 27 March the Reception children went on a mystery tour at Hobbledown farm with the energetic Hobblers to discover their treetop houses. They found green ‘glime’ all over the farm that had been left by the naughty Skibblers who were attempting to take all of the Hobblers’ magic crystals.
