He gave an impassioned speech on the values of enjoying your chosen career path and how everyone can learn from past failures. Later he answered questions about the upcoming building work across the School and judged the many creative entries in the Pre-Prep’s Folly Design Competition.

    An excellent academic year was rounded off with the annual Sports Day. After a rather rainy summer term, the weather held out for everyone to compete in track and field events. These included the 80m hurdles, 400m, javelin, discus, triple jump and high jump in junior and senior categories. There were also squadron and mixed relays for all year groups. Congratulations to Esher House for placing first on the day.

    A record number of Platinum and Gold portfolio awards represented a rich experience and everyone’s spirit of endeavour throughout Year 6. There were reflections on highlights of the year, advice from classmates to their peers and farewells that moved everyone from laughter to tears. A delicious tea in the Walled Garden rounded the afternoon of fittingly.

    The Year 2 classes, Cedar and Willow, treated their parents, School friends and staff to a wonderful end of year assembly. They children transported the audience forward 100 years to the year 2116 to witness their centenary reunion aged 107!

    Art and Photography Exhibition

    Sixth Form students and Year 11 pupils presented a collection of exam pieces for their art and photography courses. Everyone had worked notably hard to develop their portfolios with striking results. These included some excellent paintings, ambitious video installations and stunning 3D constructions. There was also a selection of work by pupils from Years 7 to 9, such as sculptures, plaster casts, ceramics, prints, paintings and excellent observational drawings.

    Dressed in their finest togas, Year 5 enjoyed recreating the culture of the ancient Greeks. They completed a lap of the triangle as part of the Run to Rio challenge and then headed inside for a feast of Greek food. There was a plethora of olives, hummus and dips which made for a delicious breakfast!

    Upper Sixth congregated in the JGC for graduation, an opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate their achievements and experiences from throughout their time at Claremont Fan Court School. Dressed in their finest dinner jackets and evening dresses, it was a perfect culmination to their school studies.
