Clubs, Sport and Activities
We offer an enriched co-curricular activity programme which encourages all children to participate by providing a wide range of sporting, creative and academic activities. Children are invited to attend two clubs during the day and further clubs before and after School throughout the year. These are run by specialist visiting teachers or our teaching staff and include:
We develop each child’s physical ability by offering a balance between aesthetic, practical, individual, partner and team work. In gymnastics children learn to extend their range of movement safely in space and on apparatus. Dance encourages imaginative movement and interpretation.
All major ball games are gradually introduced by practising aiming, passing, moving and dodging and then later participating in team games. There are a number of sports fixtures held each year against local Schools to foster healthy competition and to put into practice the team work skills learnt. Swimming is also taught, introducing basic water skills and swimming strokes.
Throughout the academic year the children are also involved in a variety of performances, activities and trips which extend their learning beyond the classroom. Parents are often invited to attend these events to encourage and support their child. A number of recent activities are listed to the right. There are also opportunities for parents to use their talents, materials and experiences within the creative curriculum.
