Years 1 and 2
In Years 1 and 2 at Claremont Fan Court School we offer a structured literacy and numeracy programme which enables the children to investigate, work collaboratively and extend their understanding. Children take responsibility for their learning and we encourage pride in this independence and reward individual achievement. Each personal success is celebrated and shared in order to build on self-confidence and esteem.
Rigorous observation and assessment procedures are used to make informed decisions on future targets for each child. This, combined with frequent communication with parents, enables School and home to work together in ensuring the all-round development of our children.
Our modern building and recently refurbished classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and open out to our extensive play area. The Pre-Preparatory School has a dedicated small swimming pool, sports hall and well stocked library. Specialist staff teach French, PE and music and we provide EAL and IN tuition when needed. The children are able to take part in a variety of co-curricular activities before, during and after school to enrich learning and develop skills outside the classroom.
Each class is named after the plants that can be found surrounding the School: in Year 1 the classes are called Daffodils and Snowdrops, and in Year 2 they are named Willow and Cedar.
We pride ourselves in providing the best possible start for the youngest children at Claremont Fan Court School in order for them to progress with the confidence and skills necessary to equip them for the next stage of education and the world outside.
